Dedicated to the memory of Richard Bishop

Richard was born in Portsmouth and attended Northern Grammar school. He worked for many years for Portsmouth Hospitals Trust where he had a number of close friends- some of which he remained in contact with for the rest of his life.

Richard married his late wife Esther in 1967 and they were happily married for 44 wonderful years. He nursed her devotedly at home during her final illness.

They had two children- Christopher and Caroline and many happy years with their grandchildren Izzy and Joe, who have fond memories of holidays with them at Arlington Reservoir.

Richard enjoyed cooking for his family, playing a round of cards and a Becks Blue. Richard was an avid reader and loved painting. He enjoyed jazz and blues music, after being initiated by his elder brother, David. He spent his retirement walking his dogs and bird watching at Farlington Marshes.

Richard died peacefully in his sleep at the Rowans Hospice. He would have wanted to extend his gratitude to all the NHS staff who took such good care of him during his time in hospital.

Richard was a big personality who always had a joke or a story to tell. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his loving family.
